Bhutan is a year-round destination. There are four seasons: summer (June to August), autumn (September to November), winter (December to February) and spring (March to May). But due to the difference in altitude in the country and the influence of the North Indian monsoon, the climate change is extremely large.

In the south, the humid subtropical climate is fairly stable throughout the year, with temperatures ranging from 15 degrees Celsius to 30 degrees Celsius. Central Bhutan has temperate forests and a seasonally strong climate with warm summers and cool, dry winters. Winters in the northern regions are much colder. Due to the high altitude, the peaks are covered with snow all year round, and the downstream summers are cool.

In summer, the Indian monsoon season runs from late June or July to late September and mainly affects the southern regions. Most agricultural activities take place during the summer months, when crops thrive on the verdant land.

Autumn, from late September or early October to late November, follows the rainy season. It is characterized by clear, sunny weather and some early snow at high altitudes. This is the season of festivals and festivals for farmers to harvest the fruits of their labor.

From late November to March, a cold, sunny winter arrives, with frost in most parts of the country and snowfall common above 3,000 meters above sea level. The winter northeast monsoon brings strong winds at the highest altitudes and passes through high mountain passes, hence Bhutan's name "Drukyul", which means "land of thunder dragons" in Dzongkha (Bhutanese Chinese).
