How many types of Tibet Permit & Tibet Visa?
Tibet Travel Permit (TTP) - It will be arranged by our company, this is the most important document of your tour to Tibet
Tibet Group Visa - It is the supplementary document of Tibet Travel Permit and ONLY required if you are traveling from Nepal to Tibet, It will be arranged by our company in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Alien's Travel Permit (ATP or PSB) - It is ONLY required for the tours to some restricted areas, which is not important to know as your travel agent will manage it.
Military Permit - It is ONLY required for the tours to some restricted areas such as Nagari area, the military permit is not important for you to know as our company will manage it.
What documents we need from you
1) We need scanned copy or clear photo of your main passport page, please make sure it is full page copy and the bottom numbers should be visible and not blocked
2) If you are coming from China to Tibet that we need scanned copy or clear photo of your China visa, please make sure it is full page copy and the bottom numbers should be visible and not blocked
Note: It is no need to apply any China visa, if you are coming from Nepal to Tibet, you can just provide the passport copy, then we will manage the Tibet Group Visa in Kathmandu, once you are in Nepal that you need to fill the application for and also to be provided your passport size photos and than our guide/representative will help you to take the visa from Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu.
About China Visa:
For visitors who are coming from China to Tibet
The right types for Tibet travel are “L” and “Z” types visas, L is for travel visa, Z is for working or study visa.
“L” type visa, which is also called travel visa, this is the most popular visa type among travelers.
“Z” type visa, which is also called working visa, this is for the people who work or reside in China. If you are having a Z type visa, you need to get a company proving document with your company head title + stamp seal + your passport name+ passport number, the time you start to working for this company. Your tour operator will send you the sample document after the booking is made.
For visitors who are coming from Nepal to Tibet
They do not need to get any visa beforehand, the right visa required is called Tibet group visa - which will be arranged by our company.
For visitors/travelers who are coming from Nepal to Tibet
Please do NOT apply any china visa from your own country as it is useless, the right document is the Tibet Group Visa, which will be arranged by our company in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Special attention:
1) “F” Type visa holders are not able to visit Tibet due to local government’s regulation, please keep this in mind
2) Because Tibet is politically sensitive area in China, so please do not mention anything about your Tibet tour to the Chinese Embassy, otherwise your China visa application will be rejected, many clients have been misled by the incorrect information on the internet and hence trouble was caused by those wrong information, some visitors had to give up their Tibet tours because of not able to get the China visa. So please kindly take this seriously. After deposit is made, we will send you the Invitation Letter to assist your China Visa application, your Tibet part tour in the invitation letter will be replaced by a China tour in order to pass the visa application. Once again, please do NOT mention your Tibet part tour to the embassy workers when applying a China visa. .
If you are coming from Nepal to Tibet
After the tour is booked, we will start to apply the Tibet permit in Tibet, then the local tourist administration will issue the Tibet permit together with an Invitation Letter, along with permit and invitation letter that we will apply for the Tibet Group Visa in Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu. Once you are in the Kathmandu that you need to fill the application form and need to be provide your original passport + passport size photo.

The Tibet group visa working days is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
How do I get the Tibet Permit?
If you are flying from China to Tibet
Original permit will be posted to the hotel which you will stay in before taking the flight to Lhasa, you can get the permit from the hotel bell counter when check in. You will need to show the original permit for the flight boarding. If you are taking train from China to Tibet you will not need the original permit, what you need is only a permit copy.
If you are coming from Nepal to Tibet (by flight or overland)
You do not need to care about the Tibet permit, because the permit copy has been sent to our Nepal office for Group Visa application, you only need the Group Visa for entering to Tibet.
How much the Tibet Permit cost?
According to the local government’s regulation, travel agent is only allowed to apply the Tibet permit when visitors actually have booked a tour with the travel agent; the permit could not be purchased by independent travelers who do not book any tour with a local agent.
Further more, the traveler’s sightseeing in Tibet needs to be accompanied by the tour guide and driver. Travel agents should be responsible for their client’s travel behavior in Tibet, if any visitor did anything against the government, the travel agent will also be punished seriously.
