Kailash Manasarovar Travel Guide Guide
Tibet's snow-capped mountains and lakes have a high status in Tibetan Buddhism, and worshiping lakes has also become an important part of Tibetans' prayers. Because Tibet is located on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, there are many snow-capped mountains and lakes. Among them, Kailash Peak and Lake Manasarovar, located in the Ali region, have the highest status and the largest number of pilgrims. Lake Manasarovar is the most transparent lake in China, and is the three holy lakes in Tibet along with Namtso and Yangzhuoyong.
Kailash and Manasarovar are located on both sides of National Highway 219 in Pulan County, Ali Prefecture, Tibet. Kailash Peak is located on the north side of National Highway 219, Lake Mapenyongcuo is located on the south side of National Highway 219, and there is another lake, the ghost lake Laangko, alongside Manasarovar. On the south side of Manasarovar, another snow-capped mountain, Namunani Peak, and Kailash want to look at each other, jointly guarding the holy lake of Ma Pun Yong Cho.
Kailash and Manasarovar are located in the Ali area, where there is less rain and there is no obvious rainy season, so except in winter (November to March), the area is covered with ice and snow, and transportation is inconvenient, other seasons are more suitable for sightseeing and hiking photography.
